Hello -
New to the forum and website. Intro in the appropriate section, but here I have a question about visiting Islay. Planning a trip there this August. Is it worth signing up for a private or small-group guided tour of the distilleries? Some tour guides claim they get their clients into special tastings, back room, cask samples, etc. over and above what other visitors to the distillery would be offered. Is that true? Are these special tours worth the extra fees?
Also, realizing everyone is different, how many distilleries can one reasonably visit in 1 day? Or, more to the point, how many days would it take to visit every distillery on Islay?
Thanks in advance!
